New Officers Will Lead Club in 2010-2011

The club recently installed new officers for the 2010-2011 year beginning July 1, 2010. The president is Shelly Dewese; vice presidents are Steve Chalmers and Jerry Shope; secretary, Bob Riker; treasurer, Sam James; and membership chair Lynda Shope.

Other officers include: Tailtwister Terry Dewese, Lion Tamer Jim Olmstead and directors, Tom Place, Jim Maxwell, Elizabeth James, and Dianne Johnston.

The Lions provide support for the blind and vision impaired citizens, a commitment that dates to the 1930s. The Lions International organization has also been a leading contributor to the Haitian earthquake, Hurricane Katrina and other major disasters throughout the world.

The Huntersville Lions generously supports Camp Dogwood, a camp for the blind and visually impaired of the state, located on Lake Norman. The club also supports the N.C. Lions White Cane program for VIPs (visually impaired persons).

Local agencies in North Mecklenburg that have received support this year include the Angels and Sparrows meal ministry, the Hope House project, Discovery Place Kids, the Bin, the North Mecklenburg food ministry and North Mecklenburg CrimeStoppers.
